PoBoyTango-Tacoma Little Theater

Interesting material, poor script

PoBoyTango, by Kenneth Lin, opened this weekend at Tacoma Little Theatre. Although it had interesting subject matter, a talented experienced director, David Hsieh, an equally talented and passionate actress, Michelle Blackmon and set, sound, and special effects worthy of Hollywood, the script was not of the same caliber, so it was disappointing.

Many of us know that most theatres, such as Steppenwolfe, started out modestly in church basements, but not many of us know that Art Galleries start out in houses on preserved blocks in the Central District in Seattle. “Situated in a fifth-generation Black-owned home, Wa Na Wari is an immersive community art project that reclaims Black cultural space and makes a statement about the importance of Black land ownership in gentrified communities.” The Martin Luther King Day weekend Art opening reception presenting the works of Kriston Banfield, Bonnie Hopper, Sable Elyse Smith and Amanda Howell Whitehurt was a powerful mechanism to keep leggoland development at bay in the Central District.

Seda Iranian Theatre Ensemble and Macha Theatre Works are excited to announcethe first official show of this fantastic new theater company with the world premiere of The Forgotten History of Masteneh, written and directed by Naghmeh Samini. The play runs for one weekend only February 10-12, at Taproot Theatre’s Isaac Studio in Seattle’s Greenwood Neighborhood, and will be performed in Farsi (Persian) with subtitles.

January 13. It promises to be an evening where comedians run their mouths, the house is rocked, and the laughter rolls!

Participating comedians Patricio F Mendoza (host), Juan Forno (headliner), Brandon White. Luong Hau, Jake Breslauer, Jay Markovitz, Brandon Valentine promise to run their mouths, the rock the house, and the let the laughter rolls!
