Due to the needs of new work and the sensitive nature of working with real people’s narratives, they decided to present 11TH & PINE as a limited staged reading instead of a fully designed production. an essential Seattle story that must not be forgotten.

The same week that Seda Iranian Theatre presented The Forgotten History of Mastaneh, the personal memoirs of female oppression in post-revolutionary Iran circa 1987, an exhibit by female Iranian American artists opened at the University of Washington School of Art, featuring four artists, Audineh Asaf, the chair of the Art Department at Edmonds College, Nakisa Dehpanah, an architect, Sadaf Sadri and Armida Ziaei.

The Forgotten History of Mastaneh-Female Voices in Farsi (Persian)

“Voices from Iran, heard many years later”

The Seda Iranian Theatre Ensemble performed their first play, The Forgotten History of Mastaneh, Friday night to a sold-out audience. Unsurprising, as Iranian playwright and director, Naghmeh Samini, hosts a number of impressive writing credits to her name and her work has been staged internationally. The stars of the evening were lead actor Mozdeh Rahmanzaei whose powerful performance was honest, genuine, and charismatic, and fellow actor Newsha Farahani, who gave us an intimate portrayal of female friendship.

Indelible: Reflections on Queerness in the Performing Arts was a free showing of both music and community focusing on LGBTQIA+ representation in the arts. It was put on by the Lowbrow Opera Collective, whose mission is to find the intersection between queer representation and artistic expression on stage.
