A Thousand Splendid Suns, adapted from the novel of the same name by Khaled Hosseini has been transformed into a breathtakingly beautiful opera by Roya Sadat. Put on by Seattle Opera, the opera tells the story of two women and their struggles through decades of violence, turmoil, and societal pressures. It speaks to the bonds of family, especially motherhood, of love lost and the things that people have to do in order to survive.

Indelible: Reflections on Queerness in the Performing Arts was a free showing of both music and community focusing on LGBTQIA+ representation in the arts. It was put on by the Lowbrow Opera Collective, whose mission is to find the intersection between queer representation and artistic expression on stage.

Thoreau at Home and his One World at a Time
Thoreau at Home, written by David Wagoner, is brought to life through the performance of Todd Jefferson Moore and the direction of Richard E.T. White. The musical accompaniment is done by Peter Richards, and the stage management by Emily Grierson. It is put on at 18th & Union in Capitol Hill, January 19th-21st at 7:30 p.m. and January 22nd at 4:30 p.m.. The play invites you to feel as if you are engaging in conversation with Mr. Thoreau, discussing the sublime qualities of nature while lamenting upon the horrors of commonplace disrespect for the natural world.
