To Me or Not to Me
Koo Park, a Seattle-based Korean actor, will perform his solo show, Let me Hamlet at
the Isaac Studio of Taproot Theatre in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood. The show runs
from March 11th to 12th.
Let Me Hamlet tells the story of a middle-aged, middle-of-the-pack actor who has not
yet achieved what he yearns for—to play the title role in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Instead,
he’s been sweating it out in supporting roles for more than a decade, watching other actors
“be or not be” in the spot he craves. LET ME HAMLET explores a struggle all of us face—
how to reconcile the life we dreamed of with the one we are given. In the solo performance
as sardonic and vulnerable as Hamlet himself, Park shows us that dreams, even
unobtainable ones, can be lifelines.
Actor and Playwright Koo Park was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. He began his acting
career as a member of Theatre Troupe Georipae, a company deeply rooted in Korean
traditional performing arts. He was part of the original cast of The Fable of Baek Seok, the
winner of Korean National Theatre Awards for Best Play in 2015. He starred in many other
productions with the company including The Cherry Orchard and Ogu: The Ritual of Death
that toured nationally. Park moved to Seattle in 2019 to pursue his MFA in Acting at the
University of Washington. Since graduating in 2022, Park has performed in Macbeth
(Seattle Shakespeare Company) and A Woman of No Importance (Taproot Theatre
Company).
