Rarely has a setting played such an important role in a novel or play as Seattle does in Book-It’s Truth Like the Sun. The crazy quilt ingredients of our town, “with such a short history it is all future,” form the maze through which all of the play’s characters must traverse. For here Seattle is polite and smug, innocent and sexy, insecure and brash.

The Authentic Frankenstein Comes to Life at Book-It

Book-It Repertory’s Theatre new production, Frankenstein or modern Prometheus is an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1819 novel of the same name. The moral lesson is contained in the subtitle. In Greek mythology, Prometheus was the Titan, who created man from clay, and by giving them fire, enabled progress and civilization. For this, the gods punished him harshly.

Jesus Wept!!!!!

The musicians, Owen Ross and Annie Jantzer, in Book-It’s new Circumbendibus series show Jesus’ Son were excellent. Adding live music with many different instruments and a vocalist was perhaps the only pleasant thing about this production.
