An Homage to Gil Scott-Heron
Gil Scott Heron was a highly influential poet, novelist and musician who influenced hip-hop, rap and neo soul. His self-definition was that of a “blusologist” or a “scientist who is concerned with the original of the blues.”
The Friday and Saturday night performances feature an all-star eleven-piece ensemble offering faithful renditions of his music as well as his original spoken word. As his work included social and political issues, the audience will be engaged in the African-American experience and unity in the struggle for justice everywhere.
