Accessible Shakespeare in the Park
In addition to their mainstage, full-length production of a Shakespeare play every summer, Greenstage also tours Seattle parks with “Backyard Bard” hour-long, abridged versions of Shakespeare’s plays, using only four actors playing multiple roles. The shows concentrate on the main plot points and are short so that children can get an introduction to Shakespeare.
On Friday night, July 9, 12th Night, premiered at High Point Commons in West Seattle, which is a lovely park with a small but highly serviceable amphitheater, in very pleasant weather. The play involves various love triangles, gender bending, mistaken identity, and a shipwreck, all to create a hilarious comedy.
Admission is free, and tours to different neighborhood parks in Seattle closing Aug. 14.
