Today, I had the opportunity to be a part of a fun afternoon with James and Jamesy in O’ Christmas Tea, a British comedy from London’s 3-time Impresario Award-winning duo. An outrageously funny and brilliantly inventive show reminiscent of classic British pantomimes. Written and Directed by David MacMurray Smith, and co-written and performed by Aaron Malkin and Alastair Knowles, O’ Christmas Tea promises a wacky, outrageous, and fun show for all ages!
The humorous, wacky movements and the comedic timing by our actors were spot on. What really stood out about the show was the audience participation, whiched increased my enjoyment of the show. The people around me were thoroughly enjoying themselves, laughing and applauding the entire show, and a few members of the audience were even brought on stage to be a part of the show.
My congratulations to the production team, especially Technical Director and Stage Manager Alberto White and Touring Technician and Assistant Stage Manager Matthew McCarthy, whose astounding use of lights and sound helped make the presentation of this production stand out. A bit of a warning to those going to see this show: Fog effects and strobe lighting are used so be careful.
One moment that still makes me chuckle was an unexpected action that occurred on stage. When attempting to catch his partner after a fun dance scene, Aaron Malkin, playing James in the show, accidentally ripped his pants and had to make a point to the audience that it was not rehearsed.
Overall, I had a wonderful time watching this show. The performances by Aaron and Alistair were outstanding, the comedy was top-notch, and the audience participation in the show was the best I have ever seen. O’ Christmas Tree is currently on its 2023 tour, traveling all throughout Washington State, Oregon, and British Colombia.
