Black Brilliance
The 16th Annual Langston Hughes African American Film Festival, opening Thursday April 25 and running through Sunday the 28th , will showcase stories from the African Diaspora through the lens of over 25 independent filmmakers.
The Festival starts on Thursday April 25th at 6:00pm with a Bites and Bubbly soiree where guests and filmmakers are invited to gather in celebration of Black Brilliance. Following the mixer, film screenings kick off with a series of cutting-edge short films across a range of genres, from dark comedy to animated drama. Audiences will have an opportunity to engage with some of the filmmakers in attendance at a talk-back following the screenings.
“This year we’ve got a particularly interesting mix of voicesexploring art, politics, history, love. The films are a unique peek into what’s on our minds today; there are some really funny films that catch you off guard, and others that revisit what we thought was familiar territory” says Festival Director Andrea Stuart-Lehalle.
