And Now for something from the Deep Blue Sea
Drunken Owl Theatre will open a run of four performances in three days of Marine Mammals and Their Mythical Mates production. Playwrights Carolynne Wilcox, John C. Davenport, Scot L. Bastian and Kevin Finney offer their takes on mermaids and seals, selkies and sea lions, with four ten minute plays. Poets Pamela Hobart Carter and Mike Hickey will raise the cool factor, and the Bard Owls will provide a musical backdrop.
The four plays are:
Aftersplash, by John C. Davenport. We know the Daryl Hannah and Tom Hanks movie…how did it turn out 30 years down the road?
My Morning Paddle, by Kevin Finney, based on true encounters with seals and sea lions.
Life Force, by Scot L. Bastian. This is sort of a dramatized poem, with two characters playing out evolution.
Spell from the Sea, by Carolynne Wilcox, about a Selkie who has a choice to make.
Host Kevin Finney will also have a piece about the evolution of the Starbuck’s siren logo, in addition have Tom Wait’ music “Starving’ in the Belly of the Whale.”
