A Fracture is about to Break out in Central Seattle.
Math is breaking, leaving horror and chaos in its wake. This terrifying experience is part haunted trail, part live theatre, part escape room and entirely SCARY!
Join Matheatre for FRACTURE, a haunted path of Pythagorean horror, opening this weekend! This terrifying experience is part haunted trail, part live theatre, part escape room and entirely SCARY!If you’re brave enough, tour the zone where the ancient Cult of Pythagoras has broken mathematics as we know it, and if you can…get out alive.
Possibly the first event of its kind, this unique take on Halloween horror starts with a common fear–math–and spins it in an entirely fresh and engaging way. Rather than revisiting recurring nightmares about math class, mean teachers, or surprise tests, this chilling experience peers into a world where math as we know it is broken, leading brave participants through a series of spine-tingling storytelling vignettes, scream-out-loud theatrical surprises, and interactive challenges that impart a math-positive message with lots of spooky fun along the way.
This event is free to the public thanks to sponsorship by MathHappens Foundation, and support from Seattle Universal Math Museum (SUMM). The Fracture is created by Matheatre, whose mission is to use live theatre to tell stories that inspire excitement about math and science.
Written and produced by K. Brian Neel, Ricky Coates and Sadie Bowman, sound design by Rob Witmer, and featuring Llysa Holland, Andrew Litzky, and volunteers from the Seattle Universal Math Museum community.
