See First Ever Dave Ross Performance
Here is Seattle G & S’s response to the Coronavirus lockdown:
“A few of us here at Seattle G&S were discussing how we could bring some delight into the world right now. We has some time to focus on the archives, and our talented Artistic Director Philip Lacey came up with a series of productions that we want to share with you. These will be released one per day, for your online viewing pleasure. On May 10th, we’ll put them back into the vault. Enjoy this week long free special event from the comfort of your own home, and share with your friends and family too. Video watching party anyone?”
Here is the show schedule starting Friday, May 1st on Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Presents!
May 1 – Yeomen of the Guard, 2000 – One of Alan Lunds last productions with Seattle G&S.
May 2 – The Grand Duke, 1999 – rarely performed anywhere, and the show that Seattle G&S took to, and won awards for, at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, England!
May 3 – Ruddigore, 2011
May 4 – Princess Ida, 2007 – The first show in this series with John Brookes.
May 5 – Gondoliers, 2013
May 6 – Iolanthe, 2012
May 7 – Patience, 1980 – the earliest recording found in the vault with David Ross and one of our founders Gordon Gutteridge!
Because no tour of the works of G&S would be complete without at least one of the big shows, we’re choosing between versions of The Pirates of Penzance to add as a bonus on May 8th!
Check the website www.seattlegilbertandsullivan.com, which will have information about each production, perhaps some photos from that production, a cast, orchestra, and production team list, a link to a libretto and some show history, and of course links to the shows on YouTube!
